Quant Intern

Akram Djomehri

Akram is a Quant Intern at Waggoner, where he plays a key role in developing and maintaining technology solutions that power the firm's operations and client services. With a major in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics from Michigan State University, Akram brings both technical expertise and analytical problem-solving skills to every project. He specializes in full-stack development, cloud solutions, and machine learning engineering, helping the firm leverage technology to deliver smarter, more efficient financial services.

Prior to joining Waggoner, Akram worked as an AI researcher under an MIT Research Affiliate as a member of the HAAIL Lab (Human Augmentation and Artificial Intelligence Lab), where he investigated neural network compression and its real-world applications. That experience deepened his passion for quantitative research, which he sees as the natural intersection of his two greatest interests — computer science and mathematics. He is drawn to the challenge of leveraging both disciplines to identify arbitrage opportunities and solve complex problems.

Outside of work, Akram enjoys art, programming, game development, and writing. A fun fact about Akram is that he has a passion for animals, feeding seven cats every day. His guiding philosophy is "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today" — a quote from Malcolm X that reflects his commitment to growth, learning, and making a meaningful impact through both technology and collaboration.
